About Infrared Photography
There are a lot of light in this world, but not everything can be seen by human eyes. The wavelength of light that humans can be seen extending from the colors of red to purple. We certainly remember well when we memorized in elementary school: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.
Outside lights are visible, there is the so-called ultraviolet (UV) and infra-red (IR). If the invisible light was used to take pictures with special equipment, it will create images that seemed not be made on the earth because the colors are strange and unnatural.
Back in the time of film photography, we can shoot IR with a special film. Now, in the digital era, with the camera tampered, we can also shoot IR. Basically, all digital cameras can record wave IR. But, the IR light is filtered by a special filter so the images look natural.
One thing to remember: do not make the IR camera from an old camera. IR camera not a camera exiles. In addition, the cost of making a regular camera into an IR camera was not cheap.
Take advantage the effect of Infrared Photography
Taking Infrared Photography with the camera’s IR will produce images with unnatural colors. When the photo was made into black and white, there are some IR effects that can not be produced plain black and white photographs, namely in terms of contrast and a certain tone.
For photographing people, IR cameras can be used to produce the effect of fantasy, for example for a magazine cover photography or art. Skin color shift can be added by sliding the hue (color shades) with the software.
IR photo if used for photographing the human face with black and white techniques will generate unique tonal color and looks more refined. In other words, human skin will be smoother if photographed recorded using an IR camera than with a regular camera.
